If not currently, what sort of work would be required? The Cmake rules would have to be hacked about, but how much else?  (The docs mention a cross-compile for windoze from linux using mingw.)

I'd be willing to take this on if it's considered useful and is less painful than installing/using msvc when I have a perfectly good msys2/mingw-x64 setup.

[Paid Request] Mumble Minecraft Plugintopic/2375-paid-request-mumble-minecraft-plugin/Hi all,

We're looking for a Minecraft plugin that will hook into the Mumble API to:

- Check if the user is on the correct Mumble (MurMur) server, and kick them if they are not.

- Server mute the user on the Mumble server if they die.

- Make sure the user is on the correct mumble settings, and kick them if they are not.

We want to know if this is possible, and anybody who wants to do it please get in contact with me. Thanks,

Zyaf.

Mumble evolvementtopic/2126-mumble-evolvement/Hello,

I'm 29yo ICT engineer student from Finland and I host Mumble for my friends on my private server. English is not my native language. That in mind.. here goes:

In my humble opinion, Mumble needs to evolve. Not just by improving the code, making it faster, adding features, but evolvement as a whole project.

One of the core problems of Mumble is that it's designed/made by nerds, for other nerds. By nerd, I mean a person who more or less knows how to use a computer properly.

Most of my classmates (ICT engineer students) don't know how to use computer properly. They know how to use photoshop, or how to write a program, or how to design & install & maintain a network. But they don't know how to choose parts for a computer, or how to build a computer, or how to install an OS (any OS) or how to use that OS properly. They know what they have been taught, and nowadays it's limited to the field they are studying. Everything else is irrelevan since it's made too easy. Computer doesn't work if it has no internet. That's what they know. And no student (with an exception of the telecommunication students) can fix the problem of non-working internet connection.

Additionally, they can't use Mumble, at least not without guidance.

I've invited all my gamer classmates to Mumble and they did join but not without problems. All of them had one or more issues, about how to get it working properly. Mostly the issues were simple, like how to get into the server or how to properly setup the microphone settings. All of them said it's quite hard to start using Mumble. I agree with them. Later on, they said that Mumble is ok. They got used to it, so all was good. Then came Discord and all the classmates of my Uni switched to that instantly. They said they switched because it's just so much easier. And again, I agree with them. Personally I don't like Discord and I will never use it.

But the problem is there. Mumble is too hard to use. People who aren't so tech-savvy, will never use mumble, or if they are using it, they tend to get away from it and they will leave, when a chance is given. Discord is suuupeerrrr easy when compared to Mumble. Also it looks nicer and is generally more social-looking than Mumble.

I've made it as simple as possible for my users: they can use just one small info to join my server: "akq.fi" - that's the address, with default port, and no password - "just download and install Mumble and come akq.fi !" I say. But it's not enough. It's still way too hard.

Personally, I love Mumble. It's super effective, lightweight, fast, efficient, minimalistic and just works very well. But I am a nerd. For me, this stuff is easy and I love it. But my friends - the users of my Mumble - don't really care for Mumble as a software. They just want something that works.

My dad used to know everything about cars: how they work, how they are built, how to fix them and so on and so forth - I have no clue or interest about cars. To me, they are just tools: all that matters to me is to get from point A to point B. Just like my friends want from VoIP-software, or a computer. Back in 90's, when 5% of the people had a computer, 95% of those knew how to use them properly. Now that 95% of the people has a computer, 5% of those knows how to use them properly. Cars have evolved to a point where knowledge of how the cars work is not needed anymore. All you need to do is drive, and soon, even that is not needed, you just need to know the location where you want to go.

Also Mumble needs to evolve in similar way. Otherwise, Mumble will wither and die.

Or that's how I think it will go. It's an amazing software that I love and keep loving until it's not usable anymore - like IRC :)

How much does the greatness of a software count, when the targeted users can't or wont use it?

What can be done? Well, as a nerd, I don't know much. But I think Discord has done something right. Maybe copying some ideas from it would help? Mumble-server usable through a web-page, without client-software?

Low Latencytopic/17972-low-latency/ Looking for a Voip chat system with the lowest latency possible, I cam across Mumble. But I am not able to get latency better than Dicord.

I sat max bandwith to:
bandwidth=100000

in the ini-file

As I imagine that this has influence on the latency, But my client (mumla on android) still connects with 72 kbps.

Any best practice on how to get the lowest latency posible?

Regards, Lars.

Help to setup perm on servertopic/17056-help-to-setup-perm-on-server/ Hello,
Can someone help me to do it for me ?
It's been two hours that I try to make a system which is not so hard on paper but impractical.
I would like to do something very simple:
- That anyone who arrives cannot speak or move
- And as soon as the person is authenticated (can move and go to the lounges below)
Examples:
If the user is not authenticated 0 only (0 being "reception") (+ no one can speak in the reception except the admin who can mute/talk basic)

If the user is authenticated:
Can't talk in 0 but can move and talk in 1,2 etc etc

If someone can come on my server and make it it can be nice cause I'm trying since 2/3h no joke and my brain is burniiing

Library for integrating into game engine?topic/8068-library-for-integrating-into-game-engine/ Hello. I'd like to try integrating mumble into a game engine (Godot), is there a library I can use for this? The links I found on the website go to full app repositories as far as I understand, we're looking for only the library, ideally something portable where we could provide all the OS services (sockets, threads, maybe even audio input and output) via some abstract interface (since the engine already has platform independent implementations), that way we can build on all the platforms the engine exports to. Does such a library exist? where can I find it?

Thanks!

Whiteboardtopic/15077-whiteboard/ I'm openning this topic just to put my idea here... I think could be a good application a internal whiteboard integrated with ACL system and visible whom are in same channel or something like that. Sure, need to explore more HOW interface that.

As simple tools could be enough: upload a image as background/map/blueprint/obectives; a pen with some colors and stroke weigth, some geometric objects, some arrows and some icons for objectives notation. That should be enough and, probably, an excellent application WITH a voice software.

But I have some ideas, just to show how this can be upgraded in future:

As advanced tools, save, load, undo, and specif ACL permissions for write, read, load and save; a book with custom images for backgrounds and icons.

As "super advanced" tools, to have a list with saved strategies, layers for strategy steps (like step 1, step 2, step 3) in different tabs.

Well, its just an idea to someone who have skill to do that; I think community would like a lot and Mumble probably would have more visibility and funcionality.

How to make a "ON AIR" light up desk toy that lights up when I talk/TX ?topic/8248-how-to-make-a-on-air-light-up-desk-toy-that-lights-up-when-i-talktx/ Example

One of these

tAIzD4D.png

But tiny and onmy desk

As far as the hardware that's super easy

My question is how do I get mumble to tell my thing that it is transmitting ?

Here I would build my ON AIR desktop toy

Start with an ESP32, an arduino compatible microcontroller with wifi capability

This can easily be powered from a simple usb charger

And the only addition is a single RED LED connected to GPIO#1

I would put in my wifi credentials and open a UDP port, wait for "TURNON" and "TURNOFF"  messages to control the light.

On my PC, I have a script,   onair.bat

You run "onair.bat 1"  it sends the TURNON UDP packet and 0 for TURNOFF

All I need is for mumble to execute "onair.bat x" when transmitting/stop transmitting

How can I do this in a way that would work both windows and linux ?

Noise reduction can be quite impressivetopic/5716-noise-reduction-can-be-quite-impressive/ Just wanted to drop a note to show my support for some of the abilities within mumble. I channel a lot of analog radio transmissions through mumble to allow monitoring across a private mumble channel, and I have to say that once the "noise cancellation" kicks in (about a second or two), the voice within that noise cleans up considerably compared to the original audio source. I know nothing about the mumble method, but I've heard some pretty impressive results. Thanks to all those who have created this app, I've been using it for decades and greatly appreciate its abilities!

Bot direct messagetopic/4727-bot-direct-message/ An idea to mumble: we could have a "bot direct message" button, when a bot is responding on Mumble. Telegram use that sysytem, but we dont need to have an automatic detection (like there, couse they have an entire bot infra). Here is Telegram interface:

image.png.ea49df049934f28ceb3b82564fd84ca5.png

We could config that (bot name and - maybe - commands) on murmur.ini. It would work like a personal message, only, but we can create shotcuts and, possibly, make bot invisible. I'm a great enthusiastic about group icons too. I hope that can be improved soon.

With all that on mind, I know this is a hard work specially because Mumble is Open Source. I understand how difficult is and apreciate all things already done and still being do. Nowadays, I'm trying to help with translations to my language but - as you can see - english "still in progress" to me :D. Thanks Mumble team.

Resize Mumble Help Menutopic/3483-resize-mumble-help-menu/ When  I run "mumble /?" it spawns a help menu. However, I am unable to resize it or scroll through it, and it is very long so I cannot view it all. I have been looking at the full options on one of the Github pages, but is there an easier way to properly view the help menu?

Mumble Client and Handheld Radio BTtopic/2750-mumble-client-and-handheld-radio-bt/ Hi, I am running mumble client on Raspberry Pi, actual Raspberry Pi OS 32bit.

I also have a handheld radio, which does offer VOX capability (voice recognition to simulate PTT) and has Bluetooth capability. What I would like to do is connect the handheld to the mumble client on the Pi to receive and transmit over radio.

The radio does want to connect to a headset bluetooth profile, so how do I couple the radio to get audio in and out to mumble on Pi?

How to create multiple virtual servers for the same channelstopic/2662-how-to-create-multiple-virtual-servers-for-the-same-channels/ Hi

I'm new to mumble / murmur server, we are evaluating it but our requirement need to have hundreds of users within the same channels and can communicate together, so I was looking for the possibility of horizontally scale murmur server with multiple instances with load balancing while clients see and use it as one server / host?
Is that possible and if yes how can I do it?
Documentation says something about virtual servers but not clear how to do it and if it is for the same channels
