Headset speakers not working

OK, so recently I decided to give up windows 8. After doing a fresh install and applying all windows 7 updates I am unable to have audio to my Razer Carcharias headset which uses the audio and mic jacks. When I go through the audio wizard with default settings and many other combinations aside from default the headset and mic work fine in the wizard. But when I try to use other applications such as games or VLC, the audio only comes through the laptop speakers, yet the mic still works. I'm kind of at a loss of where to go from here.


P.S. I have updated all drivers.
