Can't Hear Anyone Else

I'm running mumble stable on ubuntu 13.04. When I join my friends' room(they're running windows), I can't hear them, but they can hear me. What fixes it though, is when they go into settings and hit "apply", I can hear them. Anyone know what's causing this?
