Spoksidoodle
I have been trying to set up a music bot in mumble with decent sound quality but so far have not been able to.I can play music in mumble but the quality sounds worse then it does in Teamspeak even though the bitrate is much higher (96 vs 11 Kib/s). Is there a way to maybe force mumble to use the opus music codec becasue that is what teamspeak uses and it somehow sounds better?Thank you in advance^^
ngollan
To my knowledge, there's precious little difference between "voice" and "music" settings in Opus since the codec will switch automatically depending on the programme you feed it; however, mumble is strictly mono, which will definitely change multichannel inputs depending on the exact audio chain. Spoksidoodle
Thank you that was the reason Teamspeak sounded better. Tried again by playing a mono audio file and Teamspeak suddenly sounded worse than Mumble. Do you know if Mumble will support stereo sometime in the future? ngollan
There has been talk about stereo support in the past, but I doubt it will show up in the short term since it would require significant changes to audio in- and output.

Moderators Natenom Posted October 1, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 1, 2014 Didn't test how much difference there is in the quality, but there is a patch to change it to music encoding, see http://wiki.natenom.com/w/Mumble/Inofficial_Patches/Opus_optimization.
