Yes it did get fixed. It's intentionally truncated to 1.4.255, because due to the UDP ping format this is the higher patch number that can be represented. From 1.5 onwards, we support a new UDP format, that allows the correct version transmission.

All versions transmitted via TCP are already correct in 1.4 (e.g. the one shown in the server or user information dialog when actually being connected to a server)
