mumble redirection?

I am in the process of moving a mumble server to another IP. Unfortunately the domain name most commonly associated among people who use my server is owned by someone else, and it's not coming with. I am currently brainstorming/searching for a way to redirect people to the new address.

The best idea I've come up with so far is convince my friend to maintain a 2-5 slot mumble server with minimal bandwidth, and speech disallowed with a message to users informing them to use the new domain address.

Can anyone think of an alternative, or slightly tweaked solution that makes more sense?
