Mic problem (endless static/loop)

Hey,

I've recently bought a headset and when I go through the audio set up wizard on Mumble, it just makes a horrible static noise that repeats over and over (If I speak i can hear it but it just gets caught in the loop as well). Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?

Also, the mic seems to work and play back fine on the Windows sound recorder.

Other sound sources (boxes) disabled?

Then it’s probably one of those mics that record what they play back, because of bad isolation of the 2 channels, or whatever causes that …

You can try if enabling echo cancellation helps you,

and / or if switching activation mode from signal-to-noise to amplitude is better for you.
