When i read someone's "Creating a web client to avoid a program installation" https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/mumble/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=322 i was thinking... why not make a one file exe or something like that for portable uses like flash drive this way the codecs and all the other files wouldn't be a problem... or.. is that was umumble is? O_o??

AFAIK, the Qt libs can not be statically compiled into the Mumble binary because of licensing.

You can already run Mumble in mobile mode by creating a Mumble.ini in your Mumble folder. So you can already put it on a flash, without it writing to the registry etc.

For Linux, a self-compile can be put wherever you want to.

The distribution packages just follow the distributions folder standard. No reason to not just go ahead and use one folder. (Like one can do with the Murmur static binaries for the server.)
