Murmur.ini allowping and sendversion not working

We run murmur 1.2.3. on Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS and it works great! I've read http://mumble.sourceforge.net/Murmur.ini#Security_Stuff and put

sendversion=false
allowping=false

at the bottom of murmur.ini. Unfortunately the ping and server version are still visible after killing the murmur-pid and starting [path]/murmur.x86 with the modified ini. Wondering why... any ideas? Thanks in advance!
