bobbank
Hello. My Warcraft guild is attempting to switch to Mumble from Vent, but so far we are experience two fatal issues. I will make a separate post for each. One user experiences an extreme degradation of sound quality. She sounds absolutely fine when she first logs in. But after a while, usually within the first hour or two of being connected, she suddenly turns into a robot. It sounds very distorted, like someone talking through a fan. Restarting the client solves the problem, but it is frustrating to her.I asked her to increase her Jitter Buffer to 20, and we also verified that her sound drivers for her onboard Realtek chip are up to date. She is still using Windows XP.Could you please provide some remedies or diagnostic steps we might try? Thank you.
commandchannel
On the Audio Input dialog under the Compression section, adjust the Quality slider until the codec changes (the codec she's using will be listed immediately below the slider, either Speex or CELT). Mike Johnson Command Channel Providing Mumble Servers since 2009.
bobbank
This problem seems to have mysteriously cleared itself up. Maybe it was the nudge to Jitter Buffer or maybe it was something in their connection that cleared up. Will keep the option of changing codecs in mind.
