Can't talk or hear on Mumble

I have only been using Mumble for a few weeks now. Installed on laptop no problems and works great. desktop is a whole other thing. After getting a new certificate minstalled and finally getting it to open, I go to my server and can't speak or hear. In the message area it says " opening chosen Directsound Output failed. No audio will be heard." Under my settings for Audio in/out for the system it has "Direct Sound" chosen on my laptop its "WASAPI". I have no way (that I know of) to change it from Directsound to WASAPI. Any help or info would be great thanks.
