Delay Overlay highlight from disappearing?

Hello guys I have a question for the overlay, is there a way to delay the current speaking person's name from disappearing immediately? Like for example, if John speaks his name is lighted up on the overlay but when he stops talking I want it to stay highlighted for like half a second rather than just immediately disappearing so that I know who just spoke.
